I made a bunch of baby bibs (and managed to scare both my husband and my dad into thinking I'm pregnant! I'm not). I'm selling these bibs for $5 each. Feel free to email me if you're interested. They're all cotton and reversible. And cute.

Baby Gifts
My friend Amanda recently welcomed her baby boy, Thade. And as much as I wanted to make him a quilt, I also know that his mommy has gotten the quilting bug. I know she has made him many quilts in the last 9 months, including the one I taught her. So instead, I made a set of two bibs and two burp cloths.

I made the baby two burp cloths using quilting cotton on one side and super, super soft minky on the other. This was the first time I've ever used minky. While I love the feel of it, it's a little temperamental! I'm not going to lie - these burp cloths are a little "off." They started out square but ended up a little wonky. Luckily, I happen to know that babies don't mind that sort of thing - they'll spit up on whatever is nearby. ;)

Boy Bibs

Now that my little man is finally eating something other than breastmilk, new bibs were in order. And it seems to be doing the trick - he suddenly loves to eat - hamburger, bacon, ham, veggies, fruits, breads, anything! Well, anything except baby food or anything mushy.

Speaking of the little man, he recently celebrated his 11th-month-birthday and learned how to stand up in his crib.
It's been a while, but I remember that being the beginning of some big battles with my daughter. So far, he's continuing to be cooperative at bedtime and naptime. I think it's all due to his mommy-made quilt and bird mobile. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't want to sleep in that bed?! ;)

Lil' Projects
With The Quilt finally completed, I have some freedom to select some new projects. And, given the length of time that quilt took me, I really wanted something(s) that I could start and finish quickly and get back into the swing of actually accomplishing things. At the same time, I wanted to try something new. The solution? Bibs! I love using bibs to experiment because they are quick, easy to make, and low-risk - there's no fear of making mistakes. Plus, my daughter desperately needs more bibs.

With these, I really wanted to try using ric-rac. I've seen some adorable quilts with ric-rac, but I've been too chicken to try it myself.

This one didn't have any ric-rac, but it's still pretty.

And lastly, this was actually Mia's request - butterflies! Again, no ric-rac, just a simple bib.

Boy Bibs
Bibs are fun for me to make - I get to try new things without any hesitation that I might mess up a whole quilt. They are fast to make and it's fun to experiment with different fabrics. So when a friend asked me to make a set of bibs for a birthday party, I was pleased to say yes. And here they are! The polka dots on the left are a flannel fabric and the stripes are a canvas-type fabric. The other two are 100% cotton.

Details...

I hope the birthday boy likes them!

Christmas Bibs
I love Christmas bibs, but now that it's no longer my daughters 1st Christmas, I'm finding them hard to come by. So I made some. I love the vintage-feel of this Santa fabric and added to that "theme" with some sweet zigzags around the edges.

The second is a pretty simple design, but a busy fabric certainly keeps things interesting!

I'm pretty much caught up on all of my business commitments, so I am going to be sewing a lot in the next few weeks. I have a bunch of gifts to complete and (hopefully) a Christmas quilt to throw together for our own home. We shall see... the days are certainly flying by, aren't they?

More Bibs!
I feel like I have been neglecting this blog, but my photo business has been very busy the last few weeks. I *think* I am caught up over there and now can celebrate with some craftiness. And I've so been working on bibs. Lovin' 'em.

For the first one, I sewed along the lines of the fabric to enhance the patchwork design.

The second one, I used a hand stitched look around the edges. I love the retro feeling it created.

I sooooo love this one!
I still feel pretty sick, this head cold has certainly ruined my weekend. Luckily, tomorrow I start Jury Duty. I'm sure that waiting in a courtroom will be a soothing way to recover. ;)
I hate being sick and I get so restless. Luckily, this fabric was hiding in my cabinet and just begging to become a cute little bib. I LOVE IT and it's by far my favorite so far and helped to brighten my mood.

Worth noting: the bib is not lopsided as it appears in this photo, it's just the camera angle and I have no intention of taking a second picture. So there.

One more bib...
I have had a terrible cold for a few days now and now I am developing cabin fever on top of it. I don't do well with holding still and resting.
This morning, since my fever was down a bit, I gave myself permission to sew, but just for a few minutes. Mia got a cute little green bib out of the deal, made from some of my vintage fabric scraps.

Detail of the edge stitching. "O" how I love stitch #60 on my new machine.

Bib Factory
My daughter needed some new bibs and when I spotted some in a store in Exeter last weekend, I really wanted to buy them for her - until I saw the $20 price tag! For something that is bound to get stained and worn out? It had never occurred to me to sew my own. Then when I started digging into my fabric stash, I found a BUNCH of fat quarters from my recent vintage fabric exchange that I thought would be fun, cute, and quirky bibs. Here's the first two from the bunch... very easy to make and I think they are way fun.

Edge stitch (one of the many that my new machine can do with ease):

I used my free motion on my new machine to embellish the butterfly... I like the wonkiness of it.

I even hired a model to test out the new bibs!

This was actually the first one I made... we are a little out of order on the blog today. This one I used free motion to stitch all over the bib. It's jumbo size, which I love.

Another model? Or is that the same one? I can't keep track of all the beauty.
