Aqua Quilt

 

This quilt is all 4.5" half-square triangles made from various Bonnie & Camille aqua fabrics. It feels like such a happy quilt. I wish I could have taken it to the coast for photos... isn't it just beachy?!

The backing is one of my favorite vintage sheet finds, ever! It's such a pretty print and the colors look just perfect with the aquas on the front.

Low Volume & Pink Triangles

I made this sweet quilt for my cousin’s new baby and I love her and this quilt so much! I got to meet her over the summer when we had a family party and I held her almost the whole time and didn’t want to share her with anybody! I looooooove newborns so much and she was extra sweet and cuddly. 

The quilt is made from a variety of 5 inch low volume prints and different shades of 2.5 inch pink solids for the little triangles. I love that it becomes a very soft and soothing I-spy quilt. 

The backing is a very soft and pretty pink floral vintage sheet. 

I was very happy I finished the quilt in time to take it camping with us before giving it away. We stay in the forest near Santa Cruz, CA every summer and it’s the perfect place to take quilt photos. 

And my sweet cousin has been sending me photos every month as baby grows and uses her quilt. 🥰

Newest Addition to My Sewing Room

I made a scrappy fabric wreath today! It will be added to the door of my sewing room and I LOVE it (although it was quite tedious to make!). It is a combination of some solid cotton fabric and scraps from my many vintage sheet quilts. 

Patchwork and Tree Quilt

Another quilt finished today! I love me some vintage linens. 

The cute tree was an extra block leftover from my tree quilt. And the 5" patchwork around is has a variety of beautiful and soft vintage linens. 

 The backing is a larger print vintage sheet. 

The binding is the only non-vintage fabric - a cute gray swirl cotton.

 The quilting is straight lines framing each of the 5" patchwork squares. 

This quilt measures about 30x40 inches and is for sale! Please contact me if you'd like details. 

Tree Quilt

Thanks to the lovely ladies of the Bee Vintage online sewing bee, my tree quilt is complete! And I actually have some blocks leftover, so I will probably be making a second quilt in the future!

 I kept the quilting super simple. 

 The sashing is Kona charcoal and the binding is a fun swirly gray and white print. 

 The back is a super soft pink and white vintage sheet. 

 This was the first quilt that I was able to use my Sew Steady sewing table. Verdict? Feels a little different, but I think once I get used to the change, it will be a great help for quilting bigger and heavier projects. BIG thank you to my mother-in-law for the thoughtful birthday gift - I can't believe it's taken me this long to try it out! I guess that's a sign of a fun and busy Summer?

Bee Vintage :: July Block #1

This month's block for Bee Vintage is a Wonky Log Cabin for Heather of Quilt Cook Keep. She is collecting these blocks to make a quilt for children in need. I love it!

Bee Vintage :: June Blocks

Bee Vintage :: May Block #2

I'm running late - but here's the second block for May for Bee Vintage. This block is for Jodee and is made using this tutorial: quilting.about.com/od/blockofthemonth/ss/Antique-Tile-Qui...  It was an easy block to assemble and I think this will be a pretty quilt.

Bee Vintage :: April Blocks

These are the two block for April for Bee Vintage. 

This lattice block is made from this Moda Tutorial for Emily of the Creative Chicks blog. I love how it turned out and might consider this for a baby quilt. It's cute, although a little confusing to make if you aren't paying close attention. 

This next one is for Pam of Mama Spark's World and is made using this tutorial. I love these two fabrics together and this was an easy, quick block to construct. 

I almost have all of my bee blocks for my tree quilt. I'm trying to be patient waiting for the final two blocks to arrive so I can make my quilt. I can't wait to show you - the blocks I've received so far are so beautiful! 

Rainbow Star Quilt

 My rainbow star quilt is complete! The mother's group I am in met for a craft night last night and I was able to get the quilting done (in between chatting, snacks, and coffee!). 

This quilt is made from some of my favorite vintage sheets and was inspired by this quilt block and my beloved sewing machine cover. I'm thrilled at how well my points lined up. After 55 quilts, might I assume I finally have the hang of this sewing thing?!

 The binding is an adorable gray chevron print and the quilting was done with white thread in a my favorite meandering free-motion. 

 The back is a lovely soft floral vintage sheet. 

It's happily at home in my sewing room. I hung it up to take pictures before I've even washed it...... I love it so much I don't want to take it down even for an hour to run it through the wash. Maybe tomorrow.  ; )

Now I'm off to have dental surgery on a tooth that I somehow managed to crack in my sleep last week. Wish me luck (and good painkillers!).

My new favorite quilt (although I say that about almost every quilt I make!). 

Everyone in my house has been sick, with kids home from school every day this week. : (  The weather has been nice, so we've been opening up the house for the late afternoon sunshine and hoping to get rid of all the germs in the air. Fingers crossed that we are on the road to recovery!

I've got a bit of cabin fever but I am very thankful I've been able to sneak away to my sewing room for a little bit of sanity. This quilt top is done and ready to be basted - I can't wait to show you the rest! 

Bee Vintage :: March Block

This is a March block for the Bee Vintage quilting bee. Yes, you read that right - the MARCH block. I'm early! Woohoo! And since my block is the 2nd block of the month, I'm done with my bee blocks until April. Weird...

I'm in a very motivated, inspired mood today. Unfortunately, all of my own projects require white fabric and I'm all out. I didn't realize until about 10 minutes before my son's nap time, so running into town (20 minutes one-way) was out of the question. And when Nikki posted her request for these blocks and they required colorful solids, it was meant to be!

My Turn for Bee Vintage

March is my month in the Bee Vintage quilting bee and I’m excited to share my idea with you. I want to make a tree quilt! Below are some photos I've found for inspiration. 

My “rules” for the ladies are simple: I've asked for a plain white cotton for a background the finished block to measure 12.5.” Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, the trees do not need to be all green! I’d prefer they use a variety of sheets – I love blues, purples, greens, and pinks. I’m not crazy about yellow, orange, red, or brown.
