Christmas Village Panel Quilt

 

In my marathon of Christmas quilt making this year, I found this super cute panel by Rebecca Canale for Studio E.  I just added a simple border using Fig Tree Holly Eyelet fabric.

Santa Quilt

A few weeks ago, I had the idea to make a bunch of Christmas quilts so the quilt ladder my dad made me a few years ago would be festive. And I haven't stopped thinking about this idea since! 

I loved this panel and decided to separate the little Santas to make a cute patchwork. Here's a link to the Santa panel. The background fabric is a cute garland print from a line called Joyful Joyful by Stacy Lest Hsu, but is a little hard to find these days.

Low Volume : Christmas Edition

I made another low volume and triangles quilt. Click here to see my pink version and my blue version. But this Christmas version might be my favorite yet! 

I love these low volume Christmas fabrics so much! They're from a variety of designers. And the solid triangles are a bunch of red, burgundy, light green, and dark greens. I cut my light fabrics into 5 inch squares and sewed 2.5 inch squares into the corners to make the triangles. 

I used these adorable gnome flannel sheets for the backing. So cute and so cozy!

I made a Christmas tree quilt using assorted reds and greens from Bonnie & Camille's fabric lines.

Christmas Crafts from 2020

 Merry belated Christmas! Here's a few of the Christmas crafts I made. 

Our 2020 Christmas card was very colorful because that was just the thing I needed after a very long year. 

I made this Santa & Snowflake quilt for my sister. The middle portion is a panel fabric I bought from Hobby Lobby last year. It seemed so easy but it was NOT easy. The panel had a couple of cute borders, but the whole thing was not square. It took so long to get it anywhere close to square and I ended up cutting off both of the borders and using only the Santa part and adding my own borders. I don't think I will purchase another panel from Hobby Lobby - the quality was not worth it. The light colored border I added is tiny snowflakes and the backing is a flannel snowflake (my sister loves Christmas and snowflakes). 

We had two Christmas trees this year. This is the main tree in the living room. 

And this white tree is in our dining room. 

Once all of our gifts were purchased and wrapped, I had some time and made these little scrabble ornaments for my kids. 

I also made a bunch of table runners this year, but somehow didn't take any photos before I gave them away! Whoops! 

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

I finished Lella Boutique's Little Tree Merry Christmas panel last week. I ordered this online and didn't pay much attention to the dimensions and I was SHOCKED by the size! It's a big mama! Luckily, that forced me to not wait until the last minute, because I knew a quilt of this size was going to take some time and muscle. 

I hand tied this quilt and bound it with red & aqua fabric from Little Snippets. 

This quilt is giant - 74 inches by 56 inches! I think our whole family will be able to snuggle under here this season. 

Typically, I need Thanksgiving to pass before I'm ready for Christmas. But this quilt is an exception to my rules!

Christmas This Year

A friend in my book club hosted us at her Board & Brush studio this week. We made these cute little Christmas trees.

Speaking of Christmas trees, we have a fake one for the first time ever! My doctors warned against live trees after my transplant (they can contain mold, mildew, or critters!). So we bought a "pencil" tree so we can use it again in the future. It's less than 2' across, so it can fit in tight spaces.

I made some new ornaments with pictures of my kids using wood ornaments from Michaels. This was our Christmas card photo from 2016.

The wooden trees they have painted line our dining room table. 
My Merry Christmas quilt is hanging in the living room.

I used a chicken wire board for hanging some of the kid's artwork from the last decade. 


I have a large antique window that I used chalk pens on. I'm bummed it doesn't show up very well in photos.

I LOVE these little gnomes from Target. LOVE.


Our personalized stockings are from an Etsy shop called luckyenvelope from a few years ago.

I love our mantle this year.

Christmas Mantle

I thought I'd share this year's Christmas mantle. I'm loving the addition of our letterboard! And the teal letters....... heart!I still love my scrappy Christmas wreath. It is perfect for this antique window.  






I can't remember where I found these clip boards, but they work well on the mantle and make changing the seasonal decor very easy.

Having a kitten in the house with a Christmas tree is harder than I remembered. Notice how the bottom of the tree is pretty much undecorated at this point! Good thing she's cute!

'Tis the Season

I made a new pillow for our bedroom. We've had the same throw pillows for over twelve years, so I am so happy to have a much needed update. I'd like to make a second one sometime soon. This is 2.25 inch strips pieced using this technique (and calculator paper!) and an 18" pillow form. 

Thanksgiving in the orchard. 

I was on it this year and had our cards ready and in the mail the day after Thanksgiving! Woohoo!

Here's our card this year. I didn't get a picture, but I practiced my fancy lettering on the addresses and sealed the envelopes with washi tape. 

And then... time for a Christmas tree! 

It took us a couple of days to get it decorated. I'm so grateful my kids are old enough to help now, because I just can't do it myself anymore. I fatigue so quickly! #mssucks

Our new kitten loves quilts, especially the box of quilts we keep in the living room! It's a good thing that she is so cute because she is trying to TEAR UP our Christmas tree! I've forgotten what it's like to have a kitten in the house... almost as fun as a toddler. 

More Christmas decor! I have *LOVED* having this letter board for the last few months. It's so much fun! This is a quote from our favorite Christmas movie, Elf, and was my way of announcing movie night to our kids. I've had my eye on these letters in other colors, too. 

My friend Mary was so sweet and knitted a tiny little sweater for our Elf on the Shelf. LOVE! He looks so handsome and cozy!  :)  We have so much fun with this tradition... it has honestly become one of our favorite parts of this time of year. 

I wanted a wreath for our door this year, but they're so expensive! So I made one with some leftover ornaments, an inexpensive wreath, and A LOT of hot glue sticks.
