A Sew Handmade Nursery

The nursery is done!

Baby's quilt and matching polka-dot sheets...

Russell finished assembling the bird mobile last night (idea and pattern from Spool Sewing). I love it! I sewed all of the birds with scraps from the baby's quilt. My husband did a great job attaching them to the branches and keeping them balanced. I think we did great work together - I love how it turned out!

I also ordered these cute bird wall decals from DaliDecals on etsy.com. Love them! I ordered in dark brown and tan (12 total) and I love the contrast on the light blue walls.

The rocking chair and pillow I made (also from scraps from the baby's quilt). My sister came last week and painted the mirrors on the wall (and helped with decor... thanks, Amee!).

Baby's dresser - filled with lots and lots of hand-me-downs.

The cute artwork from Art & Philanthropy (also etsy.com).

More artwork from Art & Philanthropy - these cute cards are on the small wall just inside the room. We hung them on tiny clothes pins and I love how they turned out.

I am at the beginning of my 9th month and have already started having regular contractions and am dilated to 1cm. The hospital bags are packed, the room is done. We still need to install the baby's car seat, stock up on diapers, and decide for sure on a name. And we're trying to plan a "date night" to celebrate our last freedom for at least a little while.

No Fly Zone

The birds are still sitting on the dining room table. My wonderful husband is the handy-man around here and is planning to assemble the bird mobile for me, but he has been so busy with work that he hasn't had a chance to get to the birds. But they are all done, just patiently waiting...

Bird Mobile in Progress

With the scraps from the baby's quilt (more on that coming soon!), I decided to try to make a bird mobile for above the crib. I got the idea and the pattern from Spool Sewing's blog and more inspiration from Sew Girly. I didn't intend for it to happen, but the baby's nursery has definitely become bird-themed and these guys are just icing on the cake.

I currently have seven birds complete.

I ordered a couple of additional fat quarters from the Arcadia line to add to the variety of the birds. That fabric will hopefully arrive in the next week or so and I'd like to make about 5 more birds. Then I will ask my ever handy (and patient) husband for help assembling the birds on the branches. I can't wait to see the finished product with the baby's bedding. Oh la la!

P.S. The little hands in the first photo are my sweet helper and soon-to-be-big-sister Mia's hands. She was very eager to assist.
